Stress Free Saturday

“And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

~Jesus, Matthew 13:22
There’s a phrase I heard years ago that made an impact on me.  I’ve never forgotten it.  It goes like this:
“Worry is the darkroom where negatives are developed.” (Author Unknown)
Have you ever worried about something?  Did you get so enamored with worry that it made you sick or incapacitated? I bet you felt as though the walls around you were collapsing.  You are not alone.
Many people, regardless of their age or financial responsibility, worry.

Worry, according to, is to torment oneself with cares, anxiety, trouble, or to suffer from troubling thoughts.  (Notice there’s nothing good in that definition.)
Jesus, in the scripture you read above, compares worry to thorny, briery ground.

Let me pick out some words in the order they appear so you’ll have an understanding of how dangerous worrying is:

  • Worry
  • Deceitfulness
  • Choke
  • Unfruitful

These are the negatives that are produced in the darkroom of worry.

So how do you shake off worry and doubt?

I’m glad you asked! God’s word sowed in good soil!

1 Peter 5:7 says “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”

Don’t dwell on the negatives of life, allow God to take them from you.  Have the faith to believe that He will see you through every situation because He cares.  How powerful! How wonderful! Our God is one that cares because He is Creator of all.  No other god has that power because ours is the only One that has Creative Power!

Would you consider turning on the Light in your darkroom? What will happen? The negatives will be ruined and destroyed!

Be stress-free today…Jesus made the way.
