For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 NASB
There’s a lot to see in this one verse. Let’s condense it:
~Word of God is alive, truthful, and full of energy.
~It’s so full of truth that it exposes the good and bad in us all, no matter how we sugar coat our deeds.
~It separates what we do in the flesh by what we accomplish in the spirit.
~Exposes our weakness and instabilities not for ill, but for repentance and forgiveness.
Many believe the sword heals as it cuts. I do not. It takes time to heal. If healing took place at the time of injury, the Word would be of no use. Some heal quicker than others. All healing takes time. Most people don’t allow God’s word to “divide” and heal in the framework that God has allowed. It’s a work in progress.
It’s vain of us as God’s children to think that something traumatic that takes weeks, months, or even years to break can be fixed overnight.
